This literature review attempted to capture some of the most important debates and issues with regards to the question of access to urban land. The review is organized into the following four sections: Background and Context Historical and other factors Inhibiting the poor’s access to urban land Factors which influence the poor’s access to urban land Interventions to assist the poor in accessing urban land
