Genotype-by-environment interactions under water limited conditions

Abstract

This chapter covers the issues that are important in breeding for drought tolerance in cereal crops, emphasizing the empirical evaluation of the theoretical concepts when possible. The relationship between genotype environment interaction in crops and drought is discussed. Examples of genetic progress for yield in dryland environments and a framework for studying genotype environment interaction are presented
