Webinar series and information sessions on causal inference methods
Impact assessments can be developed using a wide variety of methodologies, encompassing quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods. This resource page features key materials designed to help you understand the full array of methods applicable to causal impact assessments, including the specific research questions they address and key aspects for their successful implementation. It also includes the presentations and recordings from the CGIAR GENDER Accelerator webinar series, which specifically focuses on applying both quantitative and qualitative causal inference methods to answer critical gender-related research questions
Webinar Series: Bridging Gender Research and Causal Inference in Agri-Food Systems
This series explores how causal inference methods, encompassing both quantitative and qualitative approaches, can be applied to answer key gender-related questions. The series will include studies that test the effectiveness of interventions, programs, or projects designed to close gender gaps in agri-food systems; and studies that use causal inference to identify effective ways to more accurately collect information to measure outcomes specifically on women or women's empowerment. The series will also include sessions that focus on the methodology itself, rather than solely on applied studies.
Information session on the use of qualitative methods for causal inference
The objective of this information session is to understand the possibilities and array of options on how qualitative methods can be used for causal inference. This information session provides an overview of using qualitative (or non-statistical) methodologies for causal inference. It will explore the different approaches to causality, such as the successionist, configurational, complex and generational views, as well as the utility of theory-based approaches. Please note this is an informational session to build understanding of the approaches, not an in-depth training on how to implement the methodologies.
Information session on mixed methods for causal impact assessments
The session focuses on the use of qualitative methods together with quantitative methods for causal impact assessments. It discusses possible designs (Sequential Exploratory, Sequential Explanatory, and Convergent) with practical examples. It also discusses how to define core research questions and how to choose the appropriate design, timing, and sampling strategy.
