Tina Yap Li Yan

Bio

Tina Yap Li Yan has been a community development practitioner since 2003. She completed her Master of Social Work from the Universiti Utara Malaysia. Her work involves identifying gaps, developing and pilot testing programmes that best serve the interests of the urban poor and community group(s): Indigenous People – Semai tribe. She has prior experience in providing technical training for community organizers and rural community teachers in Sabah on learning disabilities interventions. Prior to full-time study, Tina led the Social Work Practice portfolio of a local non-profit organization (Malaysian CARE) and the case management of children in the community context. She is a member of the research team of the Climate-Adaptive, Inclusive, Nature-based Aquaculture (CAINA) in Malaysia project and currently undertaking a PhD at the National University of Malaysia.
