Bio

Commissioner Mfundo Nomvungu holds an Honours degree in Social Work from the University of Cape Town. They also possess a Master of Philosophy degree in Laws from the University of the Western Cape, with expertise in International Family Law, Constitutional Rights Interpretation, the Extension of Social Protections, Rule of Law & Good Governance, and Corporate Finance & Governance. Their thesis focused on the Role of Chapter 9 Institutions in South Africa. Driven by a passion for social justice and human rights, Mfundo has dedicated their career to empowering marginalized communities, especially women and children affected by violence and poverty. Between 2021 and 2023, Commissioner Mfundo served as a board member of the Justice Desk, where they played a pivotal role in advocating for justice and human rights.
