Jordan Kyle

Bio

Jordan Kyle is a Research Fellow in the Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit. Her research focuses on three broad areas: how governance and institutions affect development outcomes, political economy and enabling conditions for economic policy reforms, and voice and decision-making within rural communities. She has conducted analysis, policy outreach, and/or fieldwork in a wide range of countries–including in Bolivia, India, Indonesia, Mali, Nepal, Nigeria, Peru, and Senegal–with various international agencies and local partners.

Her work has appeared in journals such as Journal of Political Economy, Comparative Political Studies, Democratization, and Studies in Comparative International Development. It has also been featured in The Economist, NPR, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and Forbes, among other media outlets. Prior to joining IFPRI, Jordan worked at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB), where she advised and engaged senior policy officials on social protection, food and nutrition policy, and labor market policies. At OMB, she won several awards for public service, including for contributions to school meals programs during the COVID-19 pandemic and to efforts to improve access to social protection programs. Previously, she worked as a Senior Fellow and Chief of Data and Analytics at the Tony Blair Institute and as an Associate Research Fellow at IFPRI. She holds a PhD in Political Science from Columbia University, where she was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow.
